Viking
Spectacle Helm |
£85.95 |
|
 |
An
impressive helmet that was common throughout the early Scandinavian
armies, it became less common from the eleventh century. Made
from high carbon steel and boasts a riveted mail aventail, the
Viking spectacle or goggle helm is enough to strike terror into
opponents even today. The googles are derived from a band of
steel designed to protect the cheek, nose and eyes as much as
possible without interfering with breathing and minimising the
effect on visibility. |

Armour
| GR1 |
Greek/Roman
style Muscled Cuiras |
£179.95 |
|
 |
Examples
of this armour abound in the Clasic world from Greece to Carthage,
with richer Roman and Italian warriors similarly clad. This
iron curass measures 45" or 47" around the chest and
21" high. We suggest you need to allow an inch or two to
breath!. They were probably phased out by the mail-shirt, which
was far more versatile and gives good shoulder and lower body
protection, as well as being more comfortable to wear.
The cuirass is hindged down the right side and held in place
by iron pins. |

Stainless
Steel Riveted Mail |
£325.00 |
|
 |
Forget
washers and wire, this is how mail was made from classical times
to the horse and musket era. Fully riveted! It takes about 20,000
links to make a coat of mail (far more if, like Harald Hardrada,
it comes down to your ankles!).
Made from steel rinks individually drilled and riveted closed.
Compared to most such armour it is surprisingly light weight.
Should be worn with either an undershirt, gambeson or similar
to protect your clothes from the light coating of grease needed
to keep mail in prime condition. |
